DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning with just a few bids
being renewed, following a light to moderate trade in some areas yesterday.
Kansas started off trading cattle first with live deals at $111, roughly $1
lower than last week's weighted average. Nebraska and Iowa trade developed a
little later with a range of $183 to $185, mostly $183, generally steady
with last week's weighted average basis Nebraska (note that the upper end of
the range was done by Regionals, and some of these were set for delayed
delivery). Texas only reported a few deals at $111, but the majority of
those bids were passed. Asking prices today are around $112 plus in the
South, and $183 to $184 in the North. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower
with light to moderate box movement.
